The mentality of entitlement drives many high-rank executives to carry on compensation practices verging on illegal. Public anger over executives pay is not new, but certainly exacerbates in current recession times. While millions struggle to make ends meet and face home losses in record numbers, CEOs continue to reward themselves regardless. The problem is not how much but the mentality behind it. As people’s nature for self-concern continues to grow, the disconnect increases and it becomes evident that this behavior does not resonate with laws of nature – progress and development directed towards the greater good. How far do financial downturns and crises need to go in order for people to realize that this disconnection is a dead end? How long till business and people acknowledge that healthy societies are essential to flourish in the XXI century?
